Professional résumé

I was born on the 7th of December 1984 in Šilute, a small lithuanian town located close to the Baltic Sea. A few years later my family moved to Kaunas, where at the age of 9 I started taking contemporary dance classes at the Aura Dance Theater. Soon dance became my main pastime and the theater my second home. My initial training as a dancer, my first leading parts, my first tour as a part of a dance ensemble, all this I experienced in my many years belonging to the Aura Dance Theater. Quickly, dance had become a way for me to express myself and so eventually the idea matured in me to make it my profession.

Hence, having finished school in Kaunas, I moved to Vilnius to be part of the first students to study contemporary dance and acting at the  Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. Before completing my bachelor’s degree in Vilnius, I spent one and a half semesters deepening my knowledge at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon.

Wishing to enhance my academic and dance education, I moved to Finland to complete the master’s program in contemporary dance at the Theater Academy in Helsinki.

Parallel to the last years of studies I started creating my first own works and have been working since then in different dance ensembles, as a freelance dancer, dance teacher and choreographer.

My first choreographic work (with Aura Dance Theater), "Back", was presented in 2008 at the 18th International Modern Dance festival in Kaunas and at the New Baltic Dance Festival in Vilnius.

In 2009, in collaboration with Mantas Stabacinskas, I created the very successful dance piece "Taip"(Yes), which was shown not only at the New Baltic Dance Festival, but also in Graz (AT), Canterbury (UK), Berlin (DE) and Frankfurt (DE).

In 2015 the duet "Within" with Sanna Lundström celebrated its premiere in Frankfurt (DE) and was performed in Linz (AT), Skelleftea (SE) and at the New Baltic Dance Festival in Vilnius (LT).

The interactive piece "Forest", which was created in 2020 with the choreographer Birutė Banevičiūtė, was also shown in various Lithuanian venues following the Frankfurt premiere.

After the short film "M(e)&M(other)", which was first broadcast in 2020 and has since been shown at various festivals (New Baltic Dance Festival, Lithuania 2020; Dance days Chania, Greece 2021; Dance Ahoy Hamburg, Germany 2021; Taiwan Bottle Post, Taiwan 2022), the stage piece "M(other)" was created.

"M(other)" premiered at the Rhein-Main Dance Festival 2021 in Frankfurt (DE) and Darmstadt (DE) and will be shown at the Baltic Dance platform in Tallinn (EE) in May 2022.

In addition to my own creations, in which I also perform as a dancer, I have also been regularly engaged as a dancer and performer over the years. Among others, I have recently worked more frequently with the Frankfurt institution dorfproduct around Simon Möllendorf, which is based at Studio Naxos.

As a freelance dance teacher I have worked with both beginners and professional dancers. I have taught in Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Austria (including as assistant to Kerstin Kussmaul at ImpulsTanz '09 Vienna International Dance Festival) and Germany (K3 Hamburg, Tanzplattform Rhein-Main).

Since 2011 I work in Frankfurt, where I live with my husband and my two kids.
